"Robert’s class was great. He emphasized a technique that gave me a new way to approach some of my paintings. The day long session allowed time to struggle with his concepts and gain a measure of success. I appreciated the samples of his work, the demonstrations, the individual attention, and the provision of inexpensive materials for practice. I know I need this session again to gain additional understanding and confidence. Thanks to cre8ery for providing this opportunity." – Janice Low, visual artist 'Robert Sim's Alla Prima class was professionally instructed with live demos and individual critiques. There were the right amount of people in the class to allow Robert to give us each adequate individual instruction. The centrally located facility provided us with all the necessary equipment for the class. The (art) atmosphere was inspirational. Grisaille - Renaissance approach to painting of human body, Instructed by Alexander El, for experienced artists, October 23, 1-4 pm, $55 plus supplies (not included)
Grisaille (French: grey) technique originated during the Renaissance as painting in monochrome, usually in shades of grey or brown. In this class with a live nude model you will learn how to paint the figure using grisaille technique. You will paint on coloured canvas with a dark oil color and white highlighting. Alexander El graduated from Art School of Russian Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg, studied at the University of Manitoba's School of Art, has exhibited his works in Russia, Israel, Canada and very experienced in grisaille painting of human body. "Taking Jordan's collage workshop was an eye opener even for a 'seasoned' artist. I found it tremendously informative and rewarding. The workshop was a great way to introduce myself to painting on canvas. Jordan's knowledge of the vast mediums, tools & techniques one can use to create collage reflects in her own incredible body of collage work. There is no doubt Jordan has the timeless experience and ever evolving knowledge to help students wanting to discover the world of collage, canvas and creativity. I was so inspired that I further took Jordan's 'Intro to acrylics' class and I am signing up for the next collage workshop she is offering. Most importantly Jordan also carries with her a solid sense of serenity or patience that allows the nervous student to relax and create." -Bhavni Bhakoo Jordan Miller graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) from the University of Manitoba in 2002 and has mentored and instructed through ACI, Golden Prairie Arts Council, and cre8ery. She has also hosted private workshops for businesses, groups, and high school students. Jordan also has a certificate in Arts and Cultural Management from the University of Winnipeg's Continuing Education. Please see her cre8ery artist page for more information. Testimonial from past painting student: "Even more than the practical knowledge and techniques I learn from Jordan, I value the inspiration I receive from her. She gently urges me to push my work further, stretch myself more, to produce work I could not on my own. She never tells students what they 'should' do, but allows their own unique voice to be expressed. Don't expect to come to Jordan's class and get 'We are all going to copy this painting; here's what to do.' You will be challenged, and free, to explore your own muse." --Testimonial by Katherine Heart How to USE your digital camera with photographer Leif Norman Sat. Body Voice and Heart, As Art! With Actor Ali Tataryn, Absolutely No Experience Required! February 1, 2011 for 8 weeks, 18+, Fee: $180 Many modes of art require an "extension of the self" into the various tools required to produce a piece, whether it be paint, a chisel or clay. In Body, Voice and Heart as Art! we will be going back to the original instrument we have for expression, Our Body. With stage performance as our ultimate focus, classes will consist of movement, sounding, improvisational acting, and script work. We will spend the first few classes getting comfortable with "being outside the box" with our own individual Self Expression. The latter classes will focus on translating our new self-understanding into telling a story, what Acting is really about. Ultimately, the dynamics of our study will shift depending on the group and what they would like to see come out of the 8 week session. Class-end performance optional. Ali has performed in Less Than Kind (HBo) Cashing In (APTN) and Todd And The Book Of Pure Evil (Space fall 2010). She worked on Theatre productions through Academy of Acting and Fringe Festival and is interested in psychology, spirituality and expressive arts. She graduated from Academy of Acting, Red River College Counseling, and Continuing Education (Attachment Theory and Human Development). Currently, she is returning to University to further explore her writing, theatre and psychology. If Registering for a workshop, its recommended that you register early.
